2nd Oldest Spanish-American War Memorial in Arizona and a dual memorial with Union Veterans of the Civil War. A 1911 news article states, "Erect Native Stone Column; In the G.A.R. Cemetery in Honor of Veterans of Two Wars; A column of native stone has been erected in the G. A. R. Cemetery by private subscription in honor of the G. A. R. and Spanish war veterans."
On July 3, 1907, the Buckey O'Neill - Rough Riders Monument was dedicated. Sculpted by Solon Borglum, he matched the face and expression of O'Neill on the monument with a newspaper article stating, he has "...also commenced working on the head of the statue with a view of giving it the true expression of the features of the Rough Rider captain [Buckey O’Neill]." The boulder of the monument was taken outside of Prescott and moved by William Love's freight.
The 125th Anniversary of the Spanish American War Monument was erected in Miami, AZ by the Buckey O'Neill Camp No. 175, Sons of Spanish-American War Veterans, and dedicated on June 15, 2024. It is the first Spanish American War Monument erected to the memory of Spanish American War veterans by the Sons of Spanish American War Veterans and the first 125th Anniversary Monument in the world. The monument plaque dedicates the memorial to the 125th Anniversary of the War, Gila County Spanish American War veterans, and the Woman's Relief Corps of Arizona.
This plaque is in remembrance of Frank Brito, a Yaqui Native and Rough Rider, whose name was missing on the Rough Riders plaque affixed to the Buckey O'Neill Monument. The plaque was commissioned by the Buckey O'Neill Camp No. 175, Sons of Spanish American War Veterans and placed in 2023 by the City of Prescott Facilities.
This plaque was placed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in honor of all Spanish-American War Veterans. The monument sits within the Veterans Memorial of Fountain Park, in Fountain Hills, Arizona. The decision by the VFW to include a plaque to Spanish-American War Veterans was that the VFW was started by Spanish-American War veterans.
Dedicated on Theodore Roosevelt's birthday in 1944, this red granite bench was dedicated to the volunteers of 1898 to 1902 and is located at Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott, Arizona on the Sharlot Hall building patio. This memorial bench was conceived in 1943 as a state project of the Auxiliary to the United Spanish War Veterans of Arizona. This memorial bench during its dedication was visited by the head of their organization and was accepted by the United Spanish War Veterans. During the dedication the watch that Buckey O'Neill had when he was killed was gifted to the museum.
